However, it quickly became apparent that although there are houses on the islands of Kavicsos-t\u00f3, they are not inhabited year-round. During our correspondence, the idea arose that the islands of the Little Danube could also be attractive to Anders. The Angyali-sziget near R\u00e1ckeve and Kerekz\u00e1tony have no connection to the mainland, yet both have permanent residents. Thus, a program was developed for his visit: we will explore Csepel Island, and after visiting Kavicsos-t\u00f3, we will also see the inhabited islands of the Lesser Danube.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

After the museum, we drove to Kavicsos-t\u00f3. Unfortunately, due to the rainy weather of the previous days, very few locals were out there, so we couldn't make it to the islands. Nonetheless, for Anders, it was still a wonderful sight: the lake, the abundance of small and large houses, and the vibrant, breathing nature.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n

Our next stop was Angyali-sziget, where a scheduled ferry transports pedestrians. We took the opportunity before the ferry's return trip and explored the island as much as we could within an hour. We had conversations with two locals and learned a lot about the island. After the war, the owner of Angyali-sziget planted hazelnut trees, and the harvest was transported to a local chocolate factory in Budapest. Later on, the area was divided into parcels, and from the 1960s, more and more people purchased weekend houses on the island. Today, almost the entire area is filled with houses. The island has several permanent residents, including a painter.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Our final destination on our journey was Kerekz\u00e1tony, located a little south of R\u00e1ckeve, where we were greeted by one of the island's residents, R\u00f3bert Hermann. After he took us to the island by boat, he showed us the magnificent view of R\u00e1ckeve and the Lesser Danube from the upper floor of his house. His wife, \u00c9va, gave us a guided tour of the island, where we saw many interesting houses. The springtime nature presented its most beautiful face to us: most of the migratory birds had already arrived, and many of them made themselves visible to us. The song of the reed warbler was particularly delightful for our Swedish guests, who had not encountered most of the bird species nesting here in their harsh climate.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Anders and Kristian continued their journey by train through the Balkan Peninsula towards Greece. They will encounter several interesting islands along the way until they return home to Sweden. Hopefully, Anders' book about his European adventures will be published soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
